All gyms have now been closed for a week and looking at the new directives from the UAE government it seems that we will have to get used to it for a couple more days, even weeks.

While everyone understands the importance of staying home and practicing social distancing to avoid the virus to spread, let’s be honest: it is not easy.

You were probably settled in a pretty steady routine before all of that – working, exercising, eating healthy meals, getting your beauty sleep, and repeat.
And now, well let’s just say it’s been a weird last couple of days.
Juggling with kids and home schooling while working from home without any social interaction and/or physical activity can be overwhelming.
You may start losing track of time (which day of the week are we again?), having too many snacks and spending way too many hours on your couch watching Netflix.
And that’s ok.
We are all trying to adjust here.
But remember, when you’re out of routine you are more likely to feel tired, make bad food choices and skip your workout.

Already feeling exhausted? You are not alone.
Your immune system is probably going through a tough time too.

While we cannot recommend enough that you try keeping a physical activity – there’s so many online workout option out there and our online classes + bike rental package is still available starting next week – we’ve rounded up a couple of tips to boost your immune system and help you get through this uncertain time.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C helps build up your immune system and fight infections. Almost all citrus fruits are high in Vitamin C, but try to focus on whole foods rather than juicing.

Vitamin D
Sunlight triggers the skin’s production of vitamin D, so try to get at least a 10-15 minute exposure every day (in your balcony, garden, or while doing your necessary grocery shopping).

Drink, drink, drink your water. Get a cute bottle your like and try to keep it close by so you’ll remember to drink it and refill it as many times as possible throughout the day.

Garlic & ginger
Garlic is a must-have for your health, it will help fight infections while ginger may help decrease inflammation (such as a sore throat).

Zinc is necessary for a healthy immune system. Among other benefits, it increases the speed of healing muscles and wounds. Eggs and red meats are particularly high in Zinc and for our vegan friends, go for nuts, whole grains and veggies such as lentils or chickpeas.

Get enough sleep, eat well, try to stay active and most importantly #stayhome.
